Sennheiser CX-300 Headphones

Okay, gonna go out on a limb here, iv never really been too much of a reviewer of headphones and thus many of you are forgiven for ignoring this entire post… But i believe iv found the best headphones, ever !

The Sennheiser CX-300 are one of the latest in what is known as ‘in-ear’ headphones, which at first glance seems very strange, and contrary to all the current types (on ear, over ear, etc), what makes these different to those of traditional in-ear headphones, is on extra word ‘canal’ yup, thats right… In-ear canal, very odd indeed and i gotta admit it feels quite un-natural puttin them in, but once you’ve got them in and turned up the sound its amazing…

The clarity of sound is spectacular, and the most amazing feature thus far is their super ability at ambient noise removal, virtually nothing of the world around you can still be heard once these are at work, which makes ignoring the street salesmen even more fun…

Tech Specs

  • Powerful, bass-driven stereo sound
  • Perfect fit in the ear canal due to ear adapters in different sizes (included in the delivery)
  • Excellent attenuation of ambient noise
  • Extremely small and lightweight
  • Ideal for use with all MP3, CD, DVD, MD players and portable game systems with 3.5 mm headphone sockets
  • Asymmetrical cable
  • 2-year warranty

Pro’s found thus far

  1. Very comfortable, unlike traditional in ear headphones which kinda make your ear hurt after about 30 mins of listening, these comfortably sit in the ear canal not exerting pressure on any part of the ear.
  2. Very small profile, once in the ear from the casual front facing observer its quite difficult to actually see the headphones
  3. Surprisingly good Bass for such small headphones
  4. Makes walking past the masses of chav’s a much more pleasant experience when you cant hear them, at all !
  5. Removable rubber ear pieces, unlike standard felt ones, making it a possibility to actually clean them easily.

Con’s found thus far

  1. No Carry Case, iv had at least 4 other sets of Sennheiser portable headphones over the years and all of them came with a small wind up carry case…
  2. Slightly strange feeling pushing them into your ears, some people may be a little squeamish about this
  3. Price, okay im gonna say that these headphones are definatly worth it, but the price for a pair of portable headphones is a little high at £29.99
  4. Cable feels slightly flimsy, but thus far is proving to be just as strong as others iv used

Overall Opinion

Despite the price tag and lack of carry case, im gonna stick with my original opinion on these little gems, absolutely fantastic piece of kit which no iPod user should be without ! Check em out at HMV UK
