Okay, iv just had a scary as hell revelation about the people around me, everyones getting married (or at least engaged to be married), im not old… i was born on May 24 1985, which brings me to the grand age of 22, many people around me are 21 or younger, and im starting to see a pattern forming in their facebook status’s…
Over the last few months, a scary number of messages reading “Bla Bla is engaged” have appeared in my front page news feed, this to me seems very strange, is it any wonder the underage pregnancy rate is sky-rocketing and divorce along side it, when a 22 year old can propose to a 16 year old and it seem normal ! i mean common, thats just a little strange, or am i just being a prude !
Lets just clarfy the situation…
1. i do believe in love, because, well i do… i dont think i need any justification for that, i know it exists, i thought i had it once, i was wrong, she was evil.. but lets leave that there !
2. as such, being a believer in the almighty power of love, i do believe in marriage (with some reservations)…
3. i am not jeleous of these people…
Basically im just in a state of total bemusement as to how a 16 year old can know that ‘this is the one’ unless shes been a complete slut and shagged, dated and dumped every guy in the local area for the last 11 months to find the one she wants… Then im begging the question as to how her parents managed to squeeze out the line “oh year dear, he’s a lovely boy, oh whats that, you’ve known him a whole 3 months, bless… were right behind you… hows a December wedding sound”.
Okay, rant over… im gonna accept the fact that im just weird, strange and totally out of touch with the social-acceptable world around me… cus if i was, id either be doing one of these scenarios…
1. dating a 15 year old, who was 3 days off her 16th birthday.. with a ring in my left pocket and a condom in my right !
2. dating a 40 year old with 3 kids, with a ring in my left pocket and whats left of my sanity in the other… !
for know im gonna take my 3rd option and just smack my head off a wall until this all seems normal, cus right now it seems like im living in Michael Jacksons personal theme park…
